Nationally Acclaimed Craftsmanship

Wu Xueqiang, born in 1963 in Chengdu, is a Sichuan Province Arts and Crafts Master. He was honored as one of the "10th batch of experts with outstanding contributions" by the Chengdu Municipal Committee and the Chengdu Municipal Government.

His "Wu Xueqiang Shu Embroidery Master Studio" has been recognized as a National Master Studio by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China.

Decades of Dedication to the Art

Wu studied under Peng Yongxing, one of the first-generation “Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters” of the New China era. Over the past 40 years, he has fully mastered the core techniques of Shu embroidery, including blending stitches (晕针), gauze stitches (纱针), random stitches (乱针), and silk hand stitches (丝手针), while continuously innovating in his craft.

Wu is especially skilled in single- and double-sided embroidery, as well as the intricate “Three Uniques” technique, which combines unique shapes, colors, and stitching methods. He has a special talent for realistic embroidery, including portraits and bronze artifacts.

Passing the Torch of Craftsmanship

What makes Wu’s work so special is not just his skill but his passion for teaching and passing on the craft. He’s mentored many apprentices, some of whom have become masters themselves, helping to keep Shu embroidery alive and thriving.

At Lansei China, we’re thrilled to be working with Wu Xueqiang to bring authentic Shu embroidery techniques to embroidery and handicraft enthusiasts around the world. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your skills, this collaboration is all about sharing the beauty and techniques of Shu embroidery in a way that’s accessible and inspiring.
