In Chinese, there is a saying “妙笔生花” — with a fine pen, flowers are born. It describes writing so gentle and vivid that beauty seems to grow from the brush.

This was where our idea began.

We paired a traditional bamboo pen with ronghua silk flowers, imagining what might bloom when words and craftsmanship meet. When the design was complete, a quiet blue lotus appeared to grow naturally from the bamboo — calm, restrained, and full of unspoken feeling.

We pictured a young woman in ancient times, newly married yet alone. Her husband had gone far away — to duty, to ambition, to a place unknown. She wrote letters slowly, carefully, never knowing where to send them.

Some words are meant to stay with us. So we named this design Letters Not Sent.

A little fun fact:
Bamboo pens were already in use during the Warring States period, even before the widespread use of the brush. To make one, bamboo must be naturally dried for over three years, carefully chosen from straight joints of just the right thickness. The tip is cut at a gentle 45-degree angle, with a fine ink groove carved into it, allowing ink to flow slowly and evenly. The pen head and shaft are joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon techniques — no shortcuts, only patience.

The finished tip sits somewhere between a modern fountain pen and a brush. Firm, yet responsive. Thanks to the bamboo’s natural absorbency, ink seeps through softly, leaving traces that feel alive.
