What Else May I Need?
Alongside your Ronghua DIY Kit, the most important addition is a Ronghua Toolkit — especially if you don’t already have suitable crafting tools.
For most of our Ronghua DIY Kits, we offer two options: “DIY Kit Only” and “DIY Kit + Toolkit.”
If you’re new to Ronghua, we recommend choosing the option with the toolkit. All of our Ronghua toolkits are the same across different kits, so you only need one toolkit set for all future projects.

Ronghua Stand (Recommended, Not Essential)
A Ronghua stand is a very helpful tool for stretching and brushing the silk evenly, but it’s not essential for beginners.
You can easily achieve great results using creative alternatives, such as a stable drawer, table edge, or other household setups. Many of our beginners start this way and still create beautiful flowers.

Hairspray or White Crafting Glue (Essential – Setting Solution)
The liquid used to dip and set the silk petals is called the setting solution. There are two easy options:
① Hairspray (Best Option)
From our crafting experience, regular hairspray gives the most consistent, convenient, and beginner-friendly results.
Due to airline shipping restrictions, we’re unable to include spray products — but you can simply use any normal hairspray you already have at home.
② DIY Setting Solution
You can also mix white crafting glue with water (or alcohol) at a ratio of 1 : 1.15–1 : 1.2.

Magnesium Powder or (Simply) a Small Piece of Tissue Paper (Highly Recommended)
Attaching copper wire to silk is often the trickiest step for beginners.
While experienced crafters can usually do this directly by hand, we highly recommend using:
Anti-slip powder (magnesium powder), or
A tiny piece of tissue paper — simple, but surprisingly effective!
This small trick dramatically improves grip and control, making the process much easier and more enjoyable.

Bamboo Trimming Base with Professional Tapering Scissors (Optional, Helpful for Advanced Finishing)
The bamboo base/cup helps stabilise your hand and scissors while trimming and tapering silk strips.
The No.7 Professional Trimming Scissors are one of those rare finds that can truly handle long, thin silk strips, which are notoriously tricky to taper smoothly.
Not mandatory for beginners, but very helpful if you want to refine your technique over time.

I’m bad with words so I’ll just say I love this site, these people, their craft and their materials, and I’ve learned so much. Couldn’t recommend enough.
This review is supposed to be about the tulips, but I'm going to talk about Lansei in general. Ronghua is new to me, and it's hard, but it's also the most fun I've had in forever. Everything is wonderful--the help the Lansei team gives me when I have questions, the tutorials (video and text), the SILK!!! I've been embroidering with filament silk for decades--and this is the best I've ever touched. I gave a bundle to an embroidery friend, and she was impressed too. And it's so reasonably priced! I can't recommend Lansei highly enough, both for embroidery and ronghua. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
I wasn’t sure what to expect finding this from a Facebook ad. But the packaging alone had me impressed! Coming all the way from China to the US, the box arrived in perfect condition, not damaged at all! Everything was wrapped so beautifully inside as well. Labeled and sorted in nice envelopes. QR codes to scan for tutorials were included.
All the materials and tools are exceptional quality. I’ve just started my first ronghua kit. And while I’m moving slowly with my progress, I’m loving the slow meditative process of it. The quiet time I take to myself to count my threads, to brush my strands out is quite peaceful.
The instructional videos are super easy to follow and the step by step directions with photos helps too. I can’t wait to buy more and I haven’t even finished this one yet.
I have ordered several kits as well as materials from Lansei and the quality of the materials is always the best. I obtain materials from several different places but when I am making a piece that is intended to be gifted or for an important event, I always choose materials from Lansei. Their silk threads are extremely consistent and do not tangle as easily as some from other brands, and they brush out beautifully. The tutorials are always clear. I’m so grateful to have been introduced to this amazing craft!
I have not had the chance to use the kit yet, but I was blown away with the quality and presentation I received (it was a birthday gift from my Husband) The tool kit was stunning, with high quality scissors and a pair of shears, presented in a high quality cloth tool roll tied with a decorative tie. The box all the equipment arrived in, including the straighteners, silks wire etc (also in a high quality cloth pouch) was of a very high standard, with a lovely personal greeting on the box. I ordered the Bamboo stand and cup separately, and again they came presented beautifully. I will always go straight to Lansai for any of the products I need.
My swallow embroidery has been so much fun and I have learned a lot from the excellent video. I am just going to start putting the box and embroidery together. Your products and support are excellent. I’m so glad I found LanseiChina
This was definitely one of the more difficult crafts I tried. Making the silk strips was very fiddly and easy to mess up, and my pip cleaner things definitely didn't look as good as the ones in the tutorial. However, even with several mistakes and shoddy looking silk strips I was able to make 5 pretty nice looking tulips from the one kit. They don't look a whole lot like actual tulips due to me making my silk strips too short but I still like them. I highly recommend this if you like making things and pretty flowers that won't die on you.
I had many questions before I ordered, and the Lansei team answered them all carefully. I made them work hard, but they stayed patient. I'm new to ronghua, but not new to silk. This is hands down the best filament silk I've ever worked with. The tutorials are very clear and full of helpful advice. I will definitely order again!
I ordered this piece as a graduation present for a relative. It arrived quickly, packed in a lovely wooden box, and appeared as described in the listing. My relative thought it was beautiful. It was exactly what we had hoped for.
Everything went well, I’m guessing customs are included in the pricing because I wasn’t charged with any extra EU import fees or customs clearance!
