Verjüngungsschere für Ronghua-Handwerk | Fortgeschrittene Nr. 6

I have been watching Lansei China for some time and finally became the owner of a few of their kits: the exquisite silk embroidery pin cushion, the silk embroidery hydrangea ear cuff and ear ring and the daffodil Rong Hua kit, complete with tools. I love watching the videos and can see how special these intangible heritage crafts are; upon receiving my package and un wrapping you can see and feel the care taken by Lansei China to ensure we receive a truly wonderful product. I am on with my pin cushion and cannot wait to try (pluck up courage) to have a go at the Rong Hua daffodils.

I have wanted to try this craft for some time now and finally took the plunge. Im only sorry I didn’t do it sooner! As a beginner my first project didn’t turn out quite as planned but I am happy with it. Some steps can be a bit tricky - such as wiring the silks but after a bit of practice I’m getting much better. I contacted Customer Services to find out about specific colours for one project and to clarify the instruction on how to make it and they were extremely helpful and pleasant. It’s not a craft you can rush and I’ve found doing a little bit every evening after work is helping me to unwind.

I have loved learning this technique and am beyond excited about all the possibilities. Beautiful kits, high quality pieces and attention to detail. Loving discovering this.

There's definitely a bit of a learning curve, but it's not inherently hard to do. The part I struggle with the most is remembering to twist the wire in opposite directions to make the spiral tight. Overall I do love the process and am pleased with my results. I needed to make a Peacock tail for a project.

I really enjoyed making my hair pin! I found it came out very similar to the examples and the kit included enough material for me to not get it right the first time and still produce a really nice end product! It was a fun weekend project.

The tutorials were generally good, although I would have found a written summary helpful (E.g. a 1 page with the strips needed, how many threads to include, how wide the place the wires etc.) - I ended up basically creating my own reference sheet by pausing the videos and writing down all the details.

On the kit materials, I ordered both the kit and the tools - everything feels very high quality and was nicely packaged. If anything the scissors almost feel too heavy duty - they feel like they'd be perfect fabric scissors for sewing (high quality) but they move the threads quite a bit when I try to cut the threads into strips - this might be because I'm doing the wire wrong but I feel like smaller (thinner, but still very sharp) scissors might work better?

I’ve wanted to try this for some time so took the plunge and although I’m still finding some of the stages a bit fiddly I am really enjoying building the silk flowers. My first effort wasn’t perfect and I did mess up a little but I didn’t expect to be a pro from the get go. I’m loving this so much I have bought additional tools and I have another kit and extra silks on their way so I can practice more.

I'm addicted to making these flowers! The process is very relaxing, and the end result is gorgeous! I do wish there were written dimensions/instructions so I wouldn't have to refer back to the video, but I can always write those down.

Ronghua Stand with Superior Stability|Bamboo

This was a wonderful experience. I bought a product that had fortunately just sold out. Lansei team reached out and offered to make it from scratch. They were flexible with me to make a different sold out project that I preferred instead. They were communicative, honest, and fast. The product arrived ahead of schedule and personalized. The team went above and beyond for us. It is now a treasured possession and I would gladly recommend them.

The tool set is a well thought out and sourced kit and while I'm sure there's any number of ways that you can set the thread up as needed for Ronghua, the bamboo stand makes it a breeze even for a beginner. I loved every bit of my first purchase from Lansei from the quality of materials on down to the packaging. The kits that have pre made petals have perfect little petal templates to shape and the DIY kits are well thought out with plenty of materials. Ordering from the US is every bit worth the wait and my first order was perfect!

As always I received some high quality materials with plenty of excess for if I make mistakes.

I think the instructions for this one weren't as good as the tulip one I did first, especially when it came to figuring out how many threads to use when making the silk strips. So I wouldn't recommend this as the first kit to try, as I think I would have struggled a lot more if I hadn't done another beforehand.

The colours of thread I received were also a bit darker than what is in the picture and tutorial.

But overall, I'm very happy with the little bamboo bonsai I managed to make with this kit and I have heaps of materials left to make something else if I want to.
