To help you enjoy a smooth (and fun!) journey into the world of Ronghua, we’ve sorted all our kits into four levels based on their difficulty and time commitment. Check it out!
What Else May I Need?
Alongside your Ronghua DIY Kit, the most important addition is a Ronghua Toolkit — especially if you don’t already have suitable crafting tools.
For most of our Ronghua DIY Kits, we offer two options: “DIY Kit Only” and “DIY Kit + Toolkit.”
If you’re new to Ronghua, we recommend choosing the option with the toolkit. All of our Ronghua toolkits are the same across different kits, so you only need one toolkit set for all future projects.

Ronghua Stand (Recommended, Not Essential)
A Ronghua stand is a very helpful tool for stretching and brushing the silk evenly, but it’s not essential for beginners.
You can easily achieve great results using creative alternatives, such as a stable drawer, table edge, or other household setups. Many of our beginners start this way and still create beautiful flowers.

Hairspray or White Crafting Glue (Essential – Setting Solution)
The liquid used to dip and set the silk petals is called the setting solution. There are two easy options:
① Hairspray (Best Option)
From our crafting experience, regular hairspray gives the most consistent, convenient, and beginner-friendly results.
Due to airline shipping restrictions, we’re unable to include spray products — but you can simply use any normal hairspray you already have at home.
② DIY Setting Solution
You can also mix white crafting glue with water (or alcohol) at a ratio of 1 : 1.15–1 : 1.2.

Magnesium Powder or (Simply) a Small Piece of Tissue Paper (Highly Recommended)
Attaching copper wire to silk is often the trickiest step for beginners.
While experienced crafters can usually do this directly by hand, we highly recommend using:
Anti-slip powder (magnesium powder), or
A tiny piece of tissue paper — simple, but surprisingly effective!
This small trick dramatically improves grip and control, making the process much easier and more enjoyable.

Bamboo Trimming Base with Professional Tapering Scissors (Optional, Helpful for Advanced Finishing)
The bamboo base/cup helps stabilise your hand and scissors while trimming and tapering silk strips.
The No.7 Professional Trimming Scissors are one of those rare finds that can truly handle long, thin silk strips, which are notoriously tricky to taper smoothly.
Not mandatory for beginners, but very helpful if you want to refine your technique over time.

The materials are excellent quality and the tutorials do a fantastic job. Ronghua is certainly a challenging craft that improves with practice but the website clearly breaks down the levels into a manageable course. I love this new craft!
This took me around 23 hours to complete, I completed the red rose after watching the webinar, and took a month to get started on the black one. I'm keen to work on one of my other kits that use fluffy techniques now.
They were so kind and accommodated my request to make sure the 2 Finished Ronghua I got came with silver hair pins. They arrived beautifully wrapped and in individual wooden boxes. They are absolutely beautiful and now have the perfect storage box to make sure they dont get damaged.
A really great beginner kit!
It took me 27.5 hours to complete, but a lot of that was figuring out what I was doing and untangling silk. 😅
The updated tutorial is even more informative and I loved exploring this new craft. The tutorial isn't entirely prescriptive, so there's space for creativity in assembling your final tree.

Pre-Made Petal Ronghua Kit | Pink Butterfly Orchid
This is a wonderful craft! I do a lot of sewing and embroidery, and I'm especially interested in ethnic embroidery traditions that have been around for centuries. I saw Lansei's videos and fell in love right away. I was worried ronghua would be too difficult (I have noticed the Chinese tradition tends to favor the more skill-intensive types of embroidery!) but I did manage to produce something lovely (after a few tries). There is a bit of a learning curve, but so much possibility once you get the hang of it. The supplies are very nice. The thread is cloud soft and beautiful, and the scissors are very sharp. Many thanks to Lansei China for the gorgeous tutorials. This has been an exciting and enriching experience for me.

Absolutely some of my favorite new pieces in my wardrobe! I love everything I’ve gotten from Lansei~ Can’t go wrong at all with the quality and how pretty everything is~
The hair pin came in looking even more beautiful than expected - what skill! As a gardener and farmer, I tend to be picky about representations of botanicals - even this more imagined piece so respectfully understands how a flower is formed. And while delicate, I don’t feel I’m in much danger of ruining the flowers with use (hooray!).
It’s such a joy to get to hold and keep this gorgeous piece of art - I can’t imagine how wonderful it must feel to create it!
It is very difficult and I made many mistakes on my first try. So I ask what I did wrong and how to improve. And they answered and gave me advice so next I can avoid making the same mistake.

I bought several kits at once and I’m so glad I started with this one!! The kit honestly has everything you need. In the tutorial they show a ronghua stand and anti-slip powder, but both are optional — I managed to finish mine without them just fine. The wiring part was definitely challenging and I ended up practicing for a few days 😅 but I really appreciated that there’s plenty of extra silk included for practice. Also have to say — their customer service is amazing. You really don’t get this level of help very often, even from local businesses. Super happy with this experience!
But I couldn't proceed to do a single step right.
I messed up untangling and brushing the silk.
Messed up the wiring and couldn't proceed to go any further because everything was awfully looking and none of what I try to made was usable.
Guess Ronghua isn't made for me but the kit is very good and have everything you need to have a great start ✨
