It all started in 2022, when Jing was still working in Dubai’s banking world, feeling like she was just going through the motions of life. So, she quit her job, packed her bags, and set off on a 3-month adventure around the globe, soaking in different cultures and discovering something unexpected: crafting.

I've never made Ronghua before. Where should I start?
If you’d like the gentlest introduction, start with one of our Pre-Made Petal Kits. We make the individual silk petals for you, so you can go straight to shaping and assembling your flower.
If you want to learn how Ronghua is actually made from silk thread, choose a Level 1 kit. These are our easiest full Ronghua projects and are designed for first-time makers.
What's the difference between a Pre-Made Petal Kit and a regular Ronghua DIY Kit?
The difference is how much of the Ronghua-making process you’d like to learn.
With a Pre-Made Petal Kit, the most intricate part — making the individual silk petals — has already been done by us. You shape, arrange and assemble them into the finished piece. Most take only 1-2 hours, which makes them a lovely first taste of the craft.
With a full Ronghua DIY Kit, you begin much closer to the beginning: working with silk, making and trimming the petals, shaping them and finally assembling the piece. It takes longer, but you come away having learned the actual craft.
Think of Pre-Made Petals as your introduction; Level 1 is where the Ronghua journey really begins.
Do I need the Ronghua Toolkit — and do I have to buy it again for every kit?
If you’re making your first full Ronghua kit and don’t already have suitable tools, we recommend starting with the Toolkit.
It contains the specialist tools used throughout the process, including the traditional scissors, rolling boards, brush, mini iron and other small tools.
The important bit: you only need one.
Our Ronghua Toolkit is the same across our DIY kits, so once you have it, you can choose DIY Kit Only for your future projects and keep using the tools you already own.
Do I need the wooden Ronghua Stand too?
No — the stand is helpful, but it isn’t essential.
It gives you a stable place to stretch and brush the silk, which can make the process smoother, especially if you plan to make Ronghua regularly. But plenty of beginners start with a sturdy table edge, drawer or another secure setup at home and make beautiful flowers without one.
So if you’re wondering whether you need to buy everything before trying Ronghua: you don’t. Start simply. You can always add a stand later.
Does the kit really include what I need to make the project?
We prepare the difficult-to-source parts for you.
Each Ronghua DIY Kit contains the silk, wire and project-specific materials needed for the design. If you’re new to the craft, you can usually choose the version with our reusable Ronghua Toolkit as well.
There is one little thing we can’t put in the parcel: setting solution. Regular hairspray works beautifully and is what we most often recommend, but spray products can’t travel with our international parcels. White craft glue can also be used as an alternative.
The wooden Ronghua Stand is optional rather than essential.
How will I know what to do — especially if I've never tried Ronghua before?
You won’t be left alone with a box of silk and a mysterious pair of scissors. :)
Our kits come with step-by-step guidance, including video tutorials that you can pause, replay and follow at your own pace. Many of the techniques feel unfamiliar the first time — particularly trimming — so there’s absolutely no expectation that you should understand everything immediately.
And if something simply doesn’t make sense, ask us. We make Ronghua too, and sometimes a small tip is all it takes to get things moving again.
How long does it take to make Ronghua?
Anywhere from a quiet afternoon to a very satisfying long-term obsession.
Our Pre-Made Petal Kits are the quickest: many can be assembled in around 1–3 hours. Full Ronghua projects take longer because you’re making the silk elements yourself. Many Level 1 projects take roughly 10–20 hours, while our more advanced designs can become much longer projects. Each product page shows its estimated crafting time so you can choose something that fits both your skill level and your patience that week.
And we mean those times as guidance, not deadlines. Ronghua has never been terribly interested in efficiency.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — our little parcels travel surprisingly far.
We ship from our studio in Chengdu to many countries around the world. Shipping cost depends on your destination and order value and is calculated at checkout; qualifying orders receive free shipping.
A small number of liquid-based products can have destination restrictions because of international carrier rules, but if anything in your basket can’t travel to your country, the available shipping options will reflect that at checkout.
