A zongzi that won't be eaten. 🌿

Every Dragon Boat Festival, bunches of fresh mugwort appear above doorways across China. Some say it keeps away insects. Some say it keeps away bad luck. We just think summer wouldn't feel quite right without it.

This little project was inspired by that tradition.

Using Shu embroidery, you'll stitch a tiny sprig of mugwort onto fabric, sew it into a plump zongzi-shaped pendant, and tuck a fragrant filling inside. We've included dried mugwort, but feel free to make it your own—lavender for calm evenings, mint for a refreshing touch, lemongrass for sunny days, or any scent that reminds you of summer.

It's part embroidery project, part sewing project, and part tiny time capsule of the season.

The finished pendant is small enough to hang from your bag, your keys, your craft basket, or anywhere that could use a little handmade charm.

We love the idea that while most zongzi disappear after a few happy bites, this one gets to stay around a bit longer;)
