About

Handmade Mulberry Paper | Cicada's Wings

We call it Cicada's Wings because of a Chinese saying: "as thin as a cicada’s wings," used to describe something incredibly delicate. While it’s not quite that thin, the phrase perfectly captures how we felt the first time we saw this paper.

Made from 100% natural mulberry bark from the Gao Li Gong Mountains in Tengchong, it’s unbleached, keeping its beautiful, earthy color and natural texture. The paper feels soft yet strong—perfect for wrapping gifts or using for calligraphy and painting. What’s really special? It gets thinner but stronger over time.

When we visited the papermaker, Mr. Long, we were amazed to see a 500-year-old family book made with this very paper. The sheets were almost see-through, but the ink and characters were still perfectly clear. It’s incredible to think about how much history this paper can hold.

If you’re looking for something timeless to preserve your creations—whether it’s a handwritten letter, a piece of art, or a little personal history—this paper is a must-try. It’s not just paper; it’s a connection to the past and a gift to the future.
